Obituary of Rose Dewling (nee Csanig)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Dewling on December 15, 2023, at the age of 87, with family by her side. Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Dewling, in 2011. Rose was the devoted mother of Liz (Matt) Lymburner and Bill (Kim) Dewling. Cherished Grandma Rose to Kristine (Wes) and Melissa (Justin), and a proud great-grandma to Kendra, Jayde, Coltyn, Rowan, and Miles. Loving sister to Alec, Bill (Elizabeth), Roger (Alice), Jim, Margaret (Roy), and Kay (Sister Julianna). She is also remembered by her brothers-in-law Tom and Edmund (Marion), in-laws Shelia, Fred, Harry, Ruby. Rose will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families from both the Csanig and Dewling sides of the family. Predeceased by her parents Antol and Barbara Csanig; her siblings Tony, Anne, Mary Martineau, and Barbara Pratt; her parents-in-law Raymond and Nellie Dewling; brothers-in-law; Robin, Roger, George, Eddie; sisters-in-law Corrine, Charlotte, Grace, Leomay along with their families.

Her unwavering dedication to her family and her ability to offer support in times of need were testaments to her character. She touched the lives of many, extending her helping hand to friends, neighbors, and family alike. Rose had a passion for politics and was an avid reader. She loved reading and learning about history. Rose was also known for her green thumb, her exceptional cooking skills and for her dedication to hard work throughout her life.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff on 4A at NHS - St. Catharines for the amazing care they provided. Special thanks also go to the community palliative team, the Walker Family Cancer Centre, and Home and Community Care Support Services for their support.

In accordance with Rose's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

I was saddened to hear of Aunt Rose’s passing. She was always the one who kept her sister Anne (my Mom) informed about what was going on with the rest of the family. We looked forward to her cheery notes. My condolences to my cousins, aunts, and uncles.
