Obituary of Ronald Scott Purdy
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald "Scott" Purdy, who succumbed to his injuries following a tragic accident on January 23, 2024 at 4:20 p.m. A devoted husband, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law and cherished friend, Scott will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.Scott was born to Ron and Meta Purdy (née de Ruiter) and grew up alongside his siblings Mark (Shannon) and Laura Rickard (Jamie). He found his lifelong companion in Allison Purdy (née Orr), and their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Son-in-law to Lorraine Orr and the late John Hugh Orr, Scott became a beloved brother-in-law to John Andrew Orr (Sara Kelly), forging strong connections within his extended family. His warmth extended to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, creating a network of love and support that enriched his life.
A true outdoorsman, Scott had an unwavering passion for fishing, finding solace and joy by the water. His culinary skills were unparalleled—he enjoyed cooking everything from scratch, never settling for pre-packaged meals. Scott's love for the outdoors extended to camping, kayaking, and nurturing his green thumb, bringing plants back to life with a touch only he possessed.
At home, Scott found comfort in the company of his feline companions, Kasey and Phattapus. Their presence brought him solace and joy, making his home a haven of love and companionship. Scott's charm, wit, and a touch of sarcasm endeared him to all who knew him. His striking blue eyes mirrored the depth of his soul, while his humility and intelligence left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to share his company.
In the quiet moments, Scott's absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will live on in the laughter shared, the love given, and the countless moments of joy he brought to those around him. His family would like to send heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital and at The Mark Preece house for all their love and compassion through these difficult days.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A celebration of Scott's life will take place at Cool Hand Lukes on February 18, 2024 from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m to honor the wonderful man he was and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Mark Preece House in Scott's memory.

Meta and family, so very sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences.
Im so sorry for your loss. I had the absolute pleasure to work with Scott at a couple different resturants. He was an amazing cook and just a good time to be around, no matter how busy we were you could always count on Scott to have your back and help you get the food out or he would just lighten and cheer up the atmposphere with his unique personality and unforgettable humor. I didnt have the pleasure to meet Alison but I cant imagine how hard this is on you and your family and I am truly sorry for your loss. May his memory live on with his amazing charm and personality.
Allison, we are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this difficult time.

sorry for your loss
Allison, again I’m so sorry for your loss. I worked with Scott on the line for breakfast and he also gave me tips on how to make poached eggs from home, ever since then I can’t stop making poached eggs at home. He was a great guy to work with and I loved his fishing trip stories, to his Alice Cooper concert story to the time he met John Candy at Winter Festival of Lights and many other stories. He was a great guy to call my friend. So sorry for your loss.
Allison, I am shocked and saddend to hear of Scott’s passing. I know you two were sole mates! I could see it whenever you were together. Sending you hugs and prayers at this time.
I was so very sad to hear of Scott’s tragic passing. To Allison and family, I offer my deepest sympathies.
Sincerely Jean Agar
