In Loving Memory of

Ronald 'Ron' George Trapnell

1947 ~ 2026

Obituary of Ronald 'Ron' George Trapnell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ronald “Ron” George Trapnell announces his peaceful passing at Henley House in St. Catharines on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the age of 79.

Ron was the loving and devoted father of Eric Andersen-Trapnell (Ashley Riddle) and a cherished friend to Joy, Reign, John, Elle and Drew, who will forever hold his memory close.

A man with a tremendous heart, Ron lived a life rich with passion, curiosity, and creativity. His love of music was lifelong. As a DJ for many years, he delighted in crafting mixes, creating compilations, and sharing the joy of music at special events. He also spent time as a radio host, where his broad and eclectic taste shone brightly.

Ron found true happiness in the simple joys of life, camping with friends, evenings around the bonfire, and playing guitar under the open sky. He loved scuba diving and proudly passed that passion on to his son, Eric. Ever adventurous, Ron enjoyed exploring with his metal detector, finding treasures both big and small. He was also deeply dedicated to martial arts, a reflection of his discipline, strength, and spirit.

Above all, Ron valued the people in his life. He was supportive, loyal, and endlessly generous with his time and his heart. The friendships he formed along his journey meant everything to him, and he was always willing to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer encouragement.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Henley House for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Ron. Their support will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life to be held in June, date and time to be determined.

In memory of Ron, donations to the Port Colborne Feline Initiative would be gratefully appreciated by his family.

I have many fond memories of talking for hours – not always agreeing, but always having mutual respect. Ron was always down to make new friends and willing to help others. He had a great sense of humour and did a wonderful job as board op/producer. He is missed and fondly remembered.
