Obituary of Roger “Busher” Jackson
Roger “Busher” Jackson, born January 11, 1951, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, passed away on December 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, laughter, and unforgettable memories.Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Roger dedicated 56 years of his life to the meat cutting business, becoming well known and highly respected in his field. His skills extended far beyond the meat counter, he was often requested to cook for wild game dinners, stag and doe celebrations, and large gatherings, where his cooking and presence were equally cherished.
Roger earned the nickname “Busher” on the hockey rink, where he was known as one hell of a defenseman. Many simply called him “Bush.” Always athletic and competitive, he continued playing hockey and slo-pitch well into adulthood, never losing his love for sports. In his later years, he spent countless hours on the golf course with his friends. Golf became one of his favorite pastimes.
More than anything, Roger was the definition of a good friend. If you needed him for anything at all, he was there. His radiant personality, infectious laughter, and genuine love for people made him someone you always wanted around. Roger spent over a decade raising his family in Chippawa, where he and his late wife, Jackie, loved to entertain and welcome friends and family into their home.
He was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Royetta Jackson, and his brothers Jerry and Randy Jackson. Roger is survived by his daughter, Randi (nee Jackson) Shapiro, and her husband Chesley; his son, Bobby Alexander, and his wife Joy; and his cherished grandsons, Chesley Shapiro Jr., Quincy Alexander, and Axl Alexander. He will also be deeply missed by many close, longtime friends, some of which were more like brothers.

My condolences to Roger’s family for his loss. I knew Roger from way back in high school and although I haven’t seen him in many years (since Lococo’s) I will always remember his radiant smile and infectious laugh. RIP Roger.
I worked with Busher back in the mid 80’s at Niagara Farms. Always ready with a joke and a laugh, he was “one of the good ones” RIP
Sincere Condolences to all of your family. Roger was a neighbour I looked up to as a young man. He always treated me well and had a joke or one liner to make me laugh.
My deepest condolences to Randy and Bobby and their families. Roger always had a smile that made you smile. He will be truly missed.
I was so saddened to hear of Roger’s passing. He was a friend for over 60 years through his older brother Jerry. I spent countless hours at the Jackson house and was always treated as one of the family. As the years past, we lost touch but every once in a while I would bump into Roger at his place of work or an event he worked at. Those times were always great with lots of laughs and shared memories. The last time we met, he told me that Jerry has passed. Again, lots of memories, but a few years that time. Roger was a truly nice guy and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. He was the last in his family to pass, but now he is with his mom and dad, Jerry and Randy. Rest in peace my friend.
Roger we’re going to miss you something fierce. You were always such a pleasure to be around and we shared so many laughs. We will never forget you and cherish the times we spent together. ❤️

My condolences, I only knew Roger the past few years from working with him. I got to know him from reminiscing about my last uncle “Moose” McClurg, and the time they spent together at the Stanford arena. Roger, what a great guy.
Condolences To the entire Jackson families, Roger was a top notch guy,.
Sorry to hear of Roger’s passing grew up together in the same neighborhood God bless him. RIP
Randi and family,
I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of Roger that I’ll always carry with me. He was the kind of man you felt safe around and someone who made you feel welcomed the second you walked in the room.
I’ll never forget as a teen my brother went to the neighbors where our parents were enjoying some adult beverages and he came storming out saying, “You looking for trouble? The name’s Busher!” He was instantly terrified and impressed.
I remember him driving us to soccer, letting Randi put on her burnt CDs, and the way he ripped the disc right out when she sang the Lil’ Kim lyric a bit too proudly. That moment still makes me laugh to this day.
I remember seeing him at Lococo’s where he’d come out just to wrap me one of those big bear hugs. I remember him grilling the best steaks and telling us the secret was “a splash of beer.” I remember him delivering birthday flowers to me years later with that big, warm smile that made you feel like family.
Roger had a rare gift- he made you feel seen, welcomed, and loved… usually while also making you laugh. He was larger than life, and the world feels smaller without him.
Sending so much love and strength to all of you. He will truly be missed.
– Mia
