Obituary of Robert James Harper
Our family is heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Robert James Harper, who died at the St. Catharines Hospital on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Rob was surrounded with love, was never alone, and passed away far too young at the age of 50. He was the beloved son of Robert and the late Joyce (née Fowler) Harper. A cherished brother of the late Shari Harper (Gord Barker), Tracey (Claudio) Marchese, and Suzanne (Robert) Dzuima. He was the coolest uncle to Max Gardiner, Lucas Gardiner, Sebastiano Marchese, and Benjamin Dzuima. Rob’s passing leaves a great void that is felt by extended family, his diverse group of friends who were like family to him as well. He was blessed to be loved by so many people. If you met Rob, at first, he carried a quiet and guarded presence. However, if you got to know him, you wouldn’t have found a more generous, kind-hearted and a fiercely loyal man. He had a love for live music, especially metal, and had attended many concerts throughout his life. Rob had a thirst for knowledge, loved to read and was an avid collector of comics and graphic novels. He possessed a sarcastic wit and would not hold back sharing his dislike of shopping malls and nature, however, when the outdoors included a bonfire and a group of friends gathered together with some drinks, he would always give his stamp of approval.
Rob had his own entrepreneurial spirit and started his own little business: 3D printing figurines for miniature tabletop wargames. As a curator of community, creativity, and connection, Rob was a podcast creator and a co-founder of Vinnland Old Time Radio, as well as a co-host of Mobile Armor Radio. His fascination with history, curiosity, and storytelling also brought about his passion for paranormal investigations. Rob found a real interest in ghost walks, historical hauntings, and the mysteries that lingered just beyond the veil. Rob lived his life just as he wanted, surrounded by the people and things that brought him joy.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Rob’s friends who checked in on him and gave him strength through his hard-fought battle, especially to his dear friends who were a great help in bringing Rob to and from appointments during the past few months. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre, for their kindness and care that was provided to Rob.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, where cremation has taken place. In the spirit of who Rob was, family and friends will gather at a later date for a celebration of his life; complete with a bonfire, music, and a party. It will be a night filled with the kind of energy, laughter, and connection that he would have wanted. If desired, memorial donations given to the Walker Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by Rob’s family.
