Obituary of Robert Donald McKenzie "Rob"
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Rob, at the St. Catharines Hospital on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at the age of 55. Rob was a beloved son of Helen. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Dawn, sons Lucas and Bill, granddaughter Ava, brother Brian (Linda) McKenzie, by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially his best friends Mark, Rick and Roy. He was predeceased by his father Donald McKenzie and sister Sue McKenzie.Rob was a long time resident of St. Catharines. Throughout the years he worked as roofer, and in his spare time he found joy in cooking and gardening which he was very good as he inherited his green thumb from his father. He was a dedicated Leaf's fan and he always enjoyed cheering them on through the years. Our family has many fond memories of Rob during camping trips up north. He loved listening to music and going for long drives. We are sure that wherever he is now, his music is cranked up and his spirit is enjoying the open roads on his new adventure.
A special thank you to the nurses that took care of Rob while he was in the hospital, for their kindness and support. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133), and cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at a later date, and he will be interred at Chapel Hill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in memory of Rob may be given to the Ronald McDonald House.

Awww my precious Dawn . I know how you are feeling babe. We’ve shared some memorable moments together. He will be sadly missed and always be in our hearts . I know you were worried that he can’t hear you. Trust me my love ,HE CAN !!! Talk to him ,he’s listening and guiding you through this. Lucas will be fine trust in that he needs to go through the emotions as do you. Remember how he couldn’t leave you alone when you were home here with us . He was so upset that he was missing your guys first anniversary apart LoL. Do you really think he’s left you now. Not a chance. Only in body darling .He will come to you in the strangest yet closest ways . There will be signs . Listen to you’re heart he’s there. I love you babe. Know you are doing a fine job taking care of things. Come home to rest and become whole whenever you feel it’s time or needed. Mama says so. We send our sympathies to you and yours and may he fly high and rock on. How can he not . He’s in Paradise. What a ball he must be having ! Soar high Rob may you be surrounded by Peace and everlasting joy! You are with us always. Much love my friend forever and always. Dawn I love you and am lighting a candle in honor of him . I’ve already spoken with him. I’ll tell ya later. I love you and am here for you for whatever you may need. Hold babe . Embrace the love you two shared. There is a calmness and a peacefulness in that. Know that he knows you loved him and is at peace with that. I love you fiercely my girl and I am always holding you’re hand. Rob and I had an unusual relationship. As his sister-in-law I was able to speak the truth to him. We did have some memorable times and laughs, also some not so good lol. I remember when Lucas was born. I had never, ever seen him look at Dawn and Lucas with such Love. I’ll never forget that moment.
His fight and pain are gone now. I hope he’s loving his new life and I know he’ll be happy to see Lucas and Dawn again……some day.
Rob wouldn’t want everyone crying, he’s in our hearts and memories. Celebrate his life….
