Obituary of Robert (Bob) Kenneth Desson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Kenneth Desson on January 18, 2026, at the age of 88.

Bob was a devoted and beloved husband to Elizabeth Desson, sharing 60 wonderful years of marriage. He was a cherished father to Robert (Erin) Desson and DeAnna Desson (Jamie), and a proud and loving grandfather to Brinlee and Kadence. He will also be fondly remembered as a dear brother to Mac (Linda) Desson and Jayne Anne Kitney, a caring uncle to Ryan (Deanna) Desson, and a great-uncle to Wyatt and Harper. He will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, James Desson and Helen (nee Warner) Desson, his brothers James 'Sonny' (the late Carol), Ronnie (Sandra), William, Bruce, and Carmen as well as his father-in-law Frank and mother-in-law Theresa Bruzzese and his sister-in-law Terry Bruzzese.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Bob built a long and dedicated career with the Ford Glass Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob found great joy in hunting and fishing, as well as tending to his garden and watching sports. As a talented athlete, he was honoured for his achievements with induction into the Welland Sports Wall of Fame for his time with the Welland Merchants Ice Hockey team, and the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame for playing with the Daw's Sheet Metal Softball Team.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. McGarry, Dr. Dargavel, the nursing staff and Personal Support Workers at Millennium Trail Manor's Stamford Unit for the compassionate care they provided Bob each day over the past two years. Your kindness, dedication and attentive care will always be deeply appreciated and remembered. This compassion brought comfort to Bob and was a great source of reassurance to his family.

Bob will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In keeping with Bob's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to a charity of your choice.
