Obituary of Rick Roberts

Rick Roberts
1954-2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful man. Loving husband and best friend of 44 years to Dawn (Stuart). Cherished father of Matthew (Kate) Roberts and Katie (Greg) Dunham. Very proud grandfather to Keegan and Quinne. Adored big brother of Debbie (Mike) Nogas, Shelley (Rob) Wigle, and to Peter Roberts. Much loved by many Aunts, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Shirley Roberts and his mother-in-law Dorothy Stuart, who thought the world of him.

Rick will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour, his cheering for the Green Bay Packers and telling stories of the trucking business, which he was a part of for many years. He was truly a rock to our family and will be sorely missed.

Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) has been entrusted with arrangements. As per Rick's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of love, life and family will take place at a later date. Donations to the Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family and condolences may be shared to Rick’s tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com.

I had the pleasure to work with Rick at Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He had the greatest sense of humor and a big smile. We shared a lot of laughter, and I will always fondly remember Rick Roberts as a kind gentle giant, a big heart and a caring soul. Rest in peace dear old friend. My deepest sympathy to the entire family at this very sad time.
Hold onto all the golden memories. My prayers are with you all.

Rick was a favourite cousin because of his easygoing warm ways, his humour and his hearty laugh. His outlook was sunny even though he was very ill with Diabetes. A dedicated family man he will be sorely missed by his immediate and extended family and his friends. My sincere condolences to Dawn, Matt, Katie and their families.

Rick was a genuine and good humoured “stand-up guy” whose life was cut short by the insidious disease of diabetes. Dianne and I are thinking of your family as you support each other through this difficult time. We will always remember his distinctive hearty laugh and his larger-than-life personality that touched our lives in a very warm and welcoming way.

So saddened to hear of this today. I had the pleasure to know and work with Rick and I loved this man. As we parted our ways after working together for a number of years, we met up again just recently, reminiscing about the fun and good times we had.. Dawn, Matt, Katie and the rest of the family… may you know our family is thinking of yours and may the wonderful memories you had with Rick help heal your broken hearts. Take care.

I’m so sorry to hear about Rick. I haven’t seen him since high school. We went to the prom together and ended up hitting a small bridge in Milton Heights. Ended up upside down in a pond and the two of us managed to scramble out and knock on someone’s door at 2 am. Scared them to death as we were both bleeding. Thank goodness it looked worse than what it was. Rest in peace Rick!

Condolences to family and friends. I haven’t seen or heard ofRick since MDHS days (I was a year behind, class of 74). Rick (and Pete) were members of tackle football/no equipment crew who used to play for hours on high school field. A vertically challenged 5’ nothing, it was always a significant challenge to bring the brothers down – grab a leg and hope for help to come soon. I’ll always remember Rick as one of the best “Mustang” athletes, be it football, basketball or whatever. Rest In Peace Rick.
