In Loving Memory of
Richard Todd Hongisto
1979 - 2022
Obituary of Richard Todd Hongisto
It is with deepest sorrow to announce the passing of Richard “Todd” Hongisto of Port Colborne. Too soon taken from us on December 31, 2022. Todd was the loving son to Carol Macallister (Mike Roche), of Port Colborne and Richard (the late Maria) Hongisto, of Port Sydney, Ontario. Cherished brother of Shelly Lee, and uncle to her children David, Andrew and Emma. Beloved nephew to his Aunt Andrea Dickson (Peter Foebel) and family. Todd will also be remembered by his Uncle Raymond (Gaye) Hongisto and family. He loved life, his family and friends, his job at Salit Steel, and of course his cat children “Thumper and Boozer.” He looked forward to the times outdoors with his dad in Port Sydney but preferred that the white deep snow be a warm sand beach where he could work on his perfect tan. He loved fishing but probably enjoyed more the eating and the sun and waves on the lake. He had an infectious laugh and smile that drew people to him and had many supportive and meaningful friends over the years.
Dreams of travel and adventure were cut short way too early at the age of 43. He will be fondly remembered by those that knew him for his caring nature, his tender heart, his crazy sense of humour and for always being on his phone.
In keeping with Todd's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bocce Club at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, 550 Elizabeth St, Port Colborne, ON L3K 5W3.
His life took many paths, but we choose to remember the good times, good friends and good memories. In his memory, donations to the charity of your choice or to Arid House (89 Queen St., Fort Erie, ON, L2A 1T9) would be appreciated by the family. He will be missed but always in our hearts.
