Obituary of Richard Leo Nunn

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard Leo Nunn on December 30, 2024, at the age of 78. Richard was the beloved and adored husband of 53 years to Rosemary. He was the cherished father of Joseph, Christopher, Steven, Brad, and Todd, and will be lovingly remembered by their families, including his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces who brought him immense joy. Much loved brother to Betty and Charlene. Predeceased by his brother, Gord.

Richard was born in Simcoe in 1946 to the late Leo and Frances Nunn. He enjoyed a fulfilling and varied career. He excelled as both a truck driver and a car salesman, forming countless connections along the way. Later in life, he retired from his position as a casino limo driver. A well-liked and social man, Richard's warmth and friendliness left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was known for his love of antique cars and car shows. Above all else, he will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and doctors at GNGH and NHS-St. Catharines for their compassionate care and unwavering support throughout the years and especially in recent months.

In keeping with Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service or visitation. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Walker Family Cancer Centre.

I’m so sad at the loss of my baby brother Rick. From the time Rick was born we always had a special bond. He would remind me that one of his scars was when I took him to the park & he ran under a swing & got hit. I carried him all the way home. As we got older & moved away we still kept in touch. I visited him & Rose so many times in Niagara & Rick would take me where I wanted to go, the states, frozen falls, the lights, under the falls & a grand tour directed by Rick. Rick has always supported me in the good times & hard times. Family gatherings will not be the same without him & his smart remarks. Rick I loved you & will miss you very much. Rose, Chris & Joey I send my sincere condolences to you. I’ll still be there for all of you.

So saddened when I received the bad news of Uncle Rick’s passing.
Immediately I felt sympathy for Aunt Rose and at the same time, comforted that her children would be there with her for support, love and family.
My first memory of Uncle Rick was when I was around 7 or 8 years old. This had to be around 1968 0r 1969. At a summer vacation cottage on Lake Simcoe, Uncle Rick pulls up on his Harley Davidson, Long red hair and beard wearing a cutoff jean jacket. My brothers and I got to sit on the motorcycle and I think he took us each for a very short ride. I remember thinking “My Uncle Rick is so cool”.
To me, Uncle Rick was always laid-back and relaxed. We have the same since of humour and it made our conversations that more interesting, funny and always it seems to short.
I will miss this at future gatherings. But at the same time, smiling at the memories that I have with him and about him.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.

I am so sorry for your loss. Rick worked with my dad many years ago at Quinn truck lines. I also had the pleasure of his company when him and Rosemary would visit us at Ivans and the times Nunner brought him for some great father son time. Rest in peace. You deserve it
