Obituary of Renee Kiers

Renee Kiers, age 60, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023. She was born in Holland on February 6, 1963, to Jacobus and Katrina Van Geytenbeek. She was the beloved wife of Peter Kiers and a devoted mother to her children, Katherine Kiers (Scott Vollick), Lisa Kiers (Bryan Jarrett), and Peter Kiers (Bridgett Kirby). Renee was a cherished grandmother to her six grandchildren, Serena, Elizabeth, Jase, Liam, Axtin, and Lola.

In addition to her immediate family, Renee is survived by her stepmother, Anneke Van Geytenbeek-Kool, and her siblings, Joe Van Geytenbeek (Bonnie), Trish Van Milligan, Jack Van Geytenbeek, and Sandy Koedik (Erwin). She was predeceased by her father, Jacobus Van Geytenbeek, her mother, Katrina Van Geytenbeek, and her brother, John Van Geytenbeek.

A survivor, warrior, and an angel on earth. Renee was a kind, loving, brave, generous, first to compliment “Nice shirt”, spicy and stubborn. Renee had a stubbornness that made her dreams come true, dreams of having a family and building a greenhouse business. Her determined stubbornness gave her the extra days to teach her grandchildren “A little dirt don’t hurt”, to laugh with the people she loved most and enjoy the flowers she loved to grow. Just like she wanted, Renee passed at home surrounded by the people she loved and who loved her dearly.

Our angel in heaven, there won’t be a day that goes by that you will not be deeply missed.

In keeping with Renee’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in Renee’s gardens at 540 Forks Road, Welland on Thursday May 18th at 1pm. Online condolences may be shared on Renee's tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.
