Obituary of Raymond Victor "Ray" Neufeld

Raymond Victor “Ray” Neufeld left this world unexpectedly on May 31, 2026 at the age of 64, leaving family and friends heartbroken.

He leaves behind his children, Kyle and Katelynn, who were the pride of his life, as well as their mother Sylvia Neufeld with whom he shared many years together, although they later lived apart. He is survived by his sister, Laura Canal, who shared a lifetime of memories with him, and his nephew Geoffrey and niece Samantha and her children Scarlett and Dawson.

Raymond is reunited with his parents, David and Priscilla, whose loss he carried quietly but deeply, especially his mother.

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ray was known as “Neuf” to friends from all stages of his life. He dedicated over 40 years to General Motors, where he built not only a career but lifelong friendships. Outside of work, he found joy on the ice, proudly playing hockey (and golf) for many years with the Breakers, a team that brought him camaraderie, laughter, and countless stories. A lover of all sports, Ray often reminisced on his time playing soccer and baseball during his youth. He was also a dedicated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Niagara IceDogs, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

He was passionate about everything: adventure, travel, geography, and history. Ray spent as much time as he possibly could outdoors, from cross-Canada road trips during his childhood, to camping with his family later on in life, visiting his daughter in Mexico, and simply enjoying an afternoon of barbecuing and swimming in the backyard of his home.

His sudden departure leaves an ache that words cannot fully capture, but his spirit—bold, outspoken, and unmistakably “Ray”—will continue to guide those who loved him.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 27th, 2026 from 2pm-5pm at the Heartland Forest Nature Centre, 8215 Heartland Forest Rd in Niagara Falls. If desired, memorial donations may be given to Community Addiction Services of Niagara (CASON).

Dear Laura and Family of Ray,
As neighbours for many years, we are so sorry to hear of the early passing of Ray. We remember how Priscilla was like a second Mom on the street… loving all the little kids to come into your pool and then… she also left this World far too soon. May Ray now be in his Beloved Mom’s arms and… May All of Your Hearts Heal in time.
Thinking of You All. ❤️

It was very sad to hear Ray had passed away. We were new to the neighbourhood and he was the the first person to introduce himself and welcomed us to the neighbourhood. He spoke highly of his family. We didn’t know him for too long but his welcoming personality truly filled our days with peace & calmness.

My condolences, Ray and I first met at Niagara College where we were taking the same classes and hung out together before and after school. We reconnected again at GM as trades people. He spoke highly of the love he had for his family and was never lost for words in a conversation. A kind hearted man, he will be missed.

I worked with Ray as a machine repairman at GM. We were in the same year of the apprenticeship. He reached out to me last summer by phone to catch up. We talked a few times over the last year. It was good to talk to him. We shared a lot of family stories while at work. My deepest condolences to his family. RIP Ray.
