Obituary of Rainer Fietkau

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rainer Manfred Fietkau, who lost his 20 year battle with cancer in the comfort of his own home, surround by the love of his family on Monday, August 29, 2022. He was the devoted "Hun" of almost 57 years, Loretta. He was the loving Dad to Sue-Ann Marie (Christopher Pilcher), Bernice Lynn (Peter Schnick), Edward John (Tracey Allan) and Linda Lee (Tony Oliveira), the cherished Opa to Farren Lynn, Nicholas Glenn, Timothy Ryan, Melanie Raina, Branden Rainer, Sophia Lee, Daniella Marie, Lucas Allan, Jared Peter and Mateo Antonio. Rainer will be terribly missed by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and by the many friends who had the pleasure of knowing his gentle spirit.

Rainer came to Canada from Germany at a very young age and worked as a tool and die setter before venturing out to pursue his passion of being his own boss. He married Loretta in 1965 in Mimico and the 2 have been inseparable ever since.

Rainer was an inventor at heart. He was known for making up games for his children and grandchildren that would get their mind working. He would compose mathematical board games and number quizzes. He was a simple man with a great sense of humor, always joking and was young at heart.

In keeping with Rainer's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) A private family get together has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
