Obituary of Peter Henry Kilby

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the sudden passing of a remarkable man, Peter Henry Kilby, on June 20, 2023. Peter was not just a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend—he was the light that illuminated our lives, and his absence leaves us shattered.

Peter was born on January 11, 1953, and throughout his life, he epitomized kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His sudden departure has left a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Janice (Stansfield), and his children: Marsha (Johnny), Christal (Roy), Jolene (Willie), John, Conner, and Rebecca (Jeff). He was a guiding light, a pillar of strength, and a constant source of love and support.

But it was in the role of "Grampy" that Peter truly shone. Devin, Ty, Chase, Maddie, Emilee, Rylee, and Hunter were the joy of his life. Their laughter, their hugs, and their innocent love brought him immeasurable happiness. They were his legacy, and his love will forever live on in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings: Patricia, Shirley, Jane, and Jerry, who will forever cherish the memories they shared.

Peter found joy in various hobbies and interests, including fishing, gardening, his animals and being an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. He cherished the trips to the trailer in Napanee and enjoyed playing Candy Crush. He was a man of many talents and worked in the construction field, specializing in building bridges and subway tunnels throughout North America. Known as a "jack of all trades," Peter was always eager to lend a helping hand and fix anything that needed attention. Peter's generosity, hard work, and kindness touched the lives of those around him. He had a motto, "What's another potato in the pot?" showcasing his giving nature. As the seasons turned, you could often find him tending to his garden, finding solace in its beauty and growth.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Peter, we find solace in knowing that he has been reunited with his parents and his cherished uncle Jim, who welcomed him with open arms into the realm of eternal peace.

A celebration of Peter's extraordinary life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 15 George Street, St Catharines, ON on Sunday July 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m to honour his memory and the profound impact he made on our lives. In this time of mourning, we kindly request that in lieu of flowers please spend some time in nature and cast a fishing line in Peter's memory.

Peter Henry Kilby, your absence is a void that can never be filled. We will forever carry your love in our hearts and strive to live up to the example of kindness and hard work you set for us. Rest in eternal peace, knowing that you were loved beyond measure and that your memory will live on forever.
