Obituary of Patrick William O'Banion

Patrick William O'Banion
February 18, 1948 – November 21, 2024

Peacefully passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the age of 76. He was a supportive father to Kacey (Howard) Washington. A special Papa of Howard Jr. and Halle, and great-grandfather to LaRenzo. Dear brother of David (Catherine Jane) O’Banion and uncle to Patrick, Andy, Jeffery, Allison, Rick, Jody, Jason, and great-uncle to Amanda. Predeceased by his brother Roger. Patrick will also be fondly remembered by Joan Crawford and his neighbours, the Sims family.

Patrick is remembered for having a big heart for cats, always caring for each one that came into his life, showing them kindness and compassion. He was a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins and Cleveland Browns, and always found joy in the camaraderie and excitement of sports. A talented and avid hockey player, Patrick had the opportunity of playing semi-professional hockey in Italy, a memory he cherished throughout his life. His career took him to companies like Coca-Cola, American Can, and Autoland Chrysler, where he brought his hard work and dedication. In the summer, he could often be found enjoying the friendly competition of horseshoes, and always making time for those in his circle.

A special thankyou to the Sims family for being great attentive neighbours and friends we could depend on. In accordance with Patrick’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In memory of Patrick, donations may be given to the Rankin Cancer Run.

I have just come across Pat’s obituary and want to send miy condolancces. I am old best friend of Pat when he lived in Stoney Creek. We remained friends after he moved to NF to James st off Thorald and visited each other a lot in the early 70’s. I remember his parents, Roger and at that time little brother Dave. Then Dave outgrow us all. Unfortunatly we lost touch. Pat was a great guy, a good friend and a fine athlete.

As being a long time neighbour of Pat’s and having recently moved, I’m sad in hearing of his passing. We had a lot of good times over the years especially when whisky was involved! ????. He is now reunited with his family and many furry friends that he had lost.
