In Loving Memory of
Patrick Francois Mercier
1998-2022
Obituary of Patrick Francois Mercier
Patrick Mercier passed away suddenly on April 24th, 2022, at the age of 24. Dearly loved son of Frank and Julie (née Brettell). Loving brother of Cheryl (Jeff), Sara, Julien, and Erick (Karen), his twin. He’ll be greatly missed by his grandparents Jim and Madeleine Brettell, his uncles Marc (Al), Joe, Jim (Kelly), his aunt Marlene, and the love of his life Samantha Daniel. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Sandra, Brian, Jeffrey, Travis, Alexis and Liam. Patrick will be lovingly remembered by his many cousins. He will never be forgotten by his loyal and trusty sidekick Salem. He was predeceased by his grandparents Gaston and Denise Mercier.Although Patrick was a man of few words, if you were lucky enough to get to know him, you would never forget him. He loved music, movies, playing guitar, and hanging out with Samantha and his online friends. He had a unique and twisted sense of humour. He truly was “one of God’s own prototypes.'' A special thanks to Alison who helped him greatly over the last couple of years and to Samantha for making him so happy, they were two peas in a pod.

My sympathies to the family, I remember when my son Tommy and Eric and Patrick had the same bus stop, they had been friends ever since, he is being missed 💙 RIP
RIP, never forget
I wish this never happened to you. He is a very kind and nice person. I miss you so much, I hope you fell better in haven now. I will always remember you. R.I.P Uncle Pat.
While he was a man of few words, his words had weight and thought behind them. He was a funny guy and knew how to have fun, supportive, inquisitive and just all around a good man to have around. I don’t have any deep ponderings on the nature of life, I just wish that this wasn’t something that happened, to someone who didn’t deserve it. I really liked Pat, I wish that I got to spend more years learning who he was even if it was through something as transient as an online friendship. I hope that there is some solace or peace now for him and I hope that he has found somewhere higher and more worthy of him than in our mixed company down here. God rest your soul Pat, I will miss you.
Patrick was someone I met through mutual friends online. I never really got to spend a lot of time with him compared to my other friends, but the time I did get to spend with him was always enjoyable. He’d always have something to talk about and was genuinely a chill person to be around. To Patrick’s friends and family: I’m so sorry for your loss.
Rest In Peace patrick. Love you dude
I was lucky enough to meet and speak with Patrick. Being Swayze’s brother, it was clear that he had that zany family sparkle and I know that without saying a lot, he was a great guy to know.
The world is forever changed now and the unconditional love in this family will certainly ensure that Patrick is honoured always.
Deepest sympathies to Frank, Julie and the Mercier family. Patrick, safe travels and I hope you are at peace.

As someone who spent quite a bit of time talking with Patrick, this news was shocking. He was one of my best, and only, friends. He came to me for almost everything; advice, venting – you name it. The grief that Kyle and I have experienced is overwhelming, so we truly can’t imagine how the Merciers are feeling.
Although Pat isn’t with us anymore, we will continue to honour him in all ways possible. We plan to plant a tree for him and paint some rocks to put around it.
Our sincerest condolences go out to the Mercier family. Losing a loved one is never easy — especially one as impactful as Patrick.
Pat was one of my very best friends and one of the few people I genuinely felt I got along with. His passing is something that I’m still struggling to grasp. Though his life was fraught with difficulty and pain, he still found a way to be the personable, superlative, and incomparable friend that he was. He was both quick to crack a joke and happy to lend an ear to your troubles. We shared countless laughs and nearly as many troubles. I can only hope that he found us at least a fraction as comforting and enjoyable to be with as we found him to be. Though it tears me apart to know that I will never have the privilege to speak with him again, I am infinitely grateful to have had the privilege to call him my friend.
We are so sorry for you loss. He went to school with my daughter and she had only good things to say. He will be missed.
I’m still shocked and sad that you are no longer here. Now when things happen at work Billy says Patrick is that you, since we all joked about Larry the ghost. Everyone misses you even though you said so little. We all miss you. You will never be forgotten you are in our hearts.
I’m still at a loss to know that you’re actually gone. We met when we started elementary school, you and Erick were some of my very first friends I ever made. Thank you for the memories; the laughs and the smiles. My heart goes out to all of you, his family. You will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
