Obituary of Patricia Ruth Winger
March 17, 1955 - August 28, 2023It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of a grandmother, mother, sister and friend who exemplified strength, resilience, and unending love. Patricia Ruth Winger (Patty) peacefully departed this world on August 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Born March 17, 1955, Patty was no stranger to adversity. Her time on this earth was marked with too many hardships to list which she navigated with a tenacity that would become her hallmark. Despite the odds being stacked against her, she managed to find joy in life and create a nurturing home for her family, where love and compassion were always consistent.
Patty faced several health challenges that would shake even the strongest of wills and consistently demonstrated an unparalleled courage in the face of illness. Her determination to never let her ailments define her was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her devout faith. She was able to find peace and comfort in small pleasures and maintain a positive outlook, even during the toughest times.
Patty poured her heart into her children, Gerald and Timothy and her grandchildren, William, Everett, Elise, Emeline and Elliott, who will miss her deeply. They were the central focus and core of her life. She set such a positive example to them through the challenges she faced instilling in them the values of empathy, perseverance, and humility, amongst many others.
Patty taught us all about the power of the human spirit and the importance of faith and used those lessons to rise above challenges and to find beauty in life's simplest moments. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were touched by her grace and strength.
A graveside service will be held at Bertie Brethren in Christ, 4943 Church Rd, Stevensville on Thursday September 7 at 11am. If desired, donations in Patty’s honour can be made to the Fort Erie SPCA, Patty was a fond lover of animals, especially her pal for many years, Benji. The family would like to gratefully recognize the compassionate care over the years provided by Dr. Scher, Jocelyn, Dawn, Colyn, Danielle, Cindy and many close family and friends that went well beyond the call of duty and were the reason Patty was able to stay in her home for as long as she did. We also want to thank the wonderful staff of Douglas Memorial Hospital who were there for her in her time of need.
May Patty’s spirit find eternal peace and may her memory continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
“And the dust returns to the ground it came from and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:7
