Obituary of Barbara Davidson

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our mother passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the age of 77. She was a mom who was set in her ways and held a great amount of love for her family. She will be forever loved by her children, Byron (Agatha), Phillip (Aimee), Darlene, Regina, Ginger and Henry (Sherri). Proud Nanny Barb of Steven (Chrissy), Courtney, Daniel (Andrea), Henry, Kayla (Will), Clarissa (Jack), Tyler and Cassidy. Great grandmother to Haleigh, Damien, Caleb, Liam and Brooklyn, and not to forget her fur babies, Kira and Luna. Dear sister of Judy (Dieter) Burger and Boyd (Gail) Hiscock. She will be remembered by her aunts, many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Barbara was predeceased by her parents George and Marion Hiscock, brothers Derrick and Charlie, also by her sister Helen.

Barbara was born and raised on the east coast in St. Philips, Newfoundland. She came to Niagara with the intention to help her daughter for 6 months, which quickly turned to 24 years. She devoted her time to help babysit and raise her grandchildren, and through the years she extended her assistance with childcare to many other kids.

All that knew her would attest that she was one of a kind! She was outgoing, feisty, often funny and wouldn’t shy away from speaking what was on her mind. Some of her favourite pastimes included scratching lottery tickets, going shopping, watching movies (Fast and the Furious being her favourite) and listening to music, the louder the better! She was in tune with the times and enjoyed listening to Snoop Dogg. Barb was young at heart and loved Papa Smurf and she even has a whole collection of Kinder Egg Surprise toys. Barbara will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Barb always longed to go back home; it is where she always wanted to be. In honouring her wishes, her family will bring Barb back to St. Philips, where her ashes will be laid to rest. Barb always felt that “charity started at home”. So in memory of her, we want you to take care of your family because that’s what she would have wanted! We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the ER staff at The Greater Niagara General Hospital for their care and compassion.
