Obituary of Noel Ernest White

On Thursday October 20th after a brief illness, Noel passed away peacefully with his beloved Karen by his side. He was a loving and proud father to his 3 angels, Amanda (Jeremy), Kailee (Kavan) and Shannon. Cherished Granda to Easton and Odin. Dear brother of Alan, Colin (Ellen), Audrey (Doug), Sharon (Ray) and Norman. Noel will be loved and remembered by his brother-in-law Ritchard who always called him Nolee. Noel is also survived by a wealth of nieces, nephews and extended family in both Canada and Northern Ireland. He will also be greatly missed by his many dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Muriel, and by his devoted dog, Bailey.

Noel was born in Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was a young teenager. He worked in maintenance at the St. Catharines Hospital for 37 years, where he forged many lifelong friendships. Noel had a passion for soccer, whether it was playing, refereeing, or coaching. He could often be found cheering on Manchester United. Noel will be remembered for his fierce love of his family, and how he always made sure they were taken care of.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff, nurses and doctors at NHS-St.Catharines who worked tirelessly to find a treatment for Noel while making him as comfortable as possible.

In keeping with Noel's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, after the family has had some time to adjust to a different life without Noel. He will eventually be laid to rest in his home of Northern Ireland.

Noel, we love you so much and miss you terribly already, our hearts are broken. We will cherish your memory and will take you with us wherever we go. As you passed quietly from this world to the next we know Bailey was there waiting for you, probably with her tennis ball.

I first met Noel at the old St. Catharines General in 2003…He knew alot about what was going on with the union…He was a smart, kind man who had nothing bad to say about anyone or anything…he came to the new site, where i didn’t see him as often, but was always glad when i ran into him… his death was certainly a shock to me, for i had just seen him not to long before that…my condolences to his family and friends… he will be surely missed…!!

I am saddened to hear about Noel’s passing. I got to know Noel through the Jets organization. I got to know Noel, as a passionate, dedicated, competitor, with a strong desire to succeed which he instilled as a coach onto his girls. He was a teacher of how sport’s mimic’s life. Any person who sacrifices their time for the betterment of others, is a Champion.
My condolences to his family.

So saddened to hear about Noel passing. We’ve know each other since late teens in our soccer days and spent a lot of time together. We were both Ontario OAS referees while at the same time known for our short tempers when we played ourselves. A lot of laughs, big heart, my heart goes out to Karen and his girls

Noel’s passing has left a huge void in our lives. Personally, it is very hard to picture a world without my close pal of 49yrs.
As close as his numberous friends were, if you really knew Noel, you knew that his true loves were his family and his two dogs Amigo and Bailey.
Karen, Amanda, Kailee and Shannon as well as his grandchildren, my heart goes out to you for your loss.
Noel spoke to me of you often, never going on in a bragging way ( Noel hated when people bragged ) just with immense pride. He also spoke of the closeness he had with his siblings Sharron and Colin and spending time with each.
Of course we all know that his passion outside of family was his love of sport , all sport but in particular the “beautiful game”. If there was an important soccer game on, that is where you would find him in front of the TV. I am positive that when I watch the upcoming world cup Noel will be in the room watching it also.
Goodbye my friend,. You are now Home For a Rest

Never once did Noel deny me his Irish smile or fail to make me smile , when ever I seen him. Private, yet lovingly spoke often about his girls and wife. I will miss him. ☘️

This news breaks my heart.
Noel always looked out for his neighbors. During the pandemic he cheered on my chalk drawings and in the winter, when I was ill, he made sure to keep our parking spot cleared. He was always so kind and is missed by many.

Such sad news to hear about an amazing friend. I don’t even think Noel realized how he touched home with many hearts. Noel always had a listening ear whenever needed. His heart was pure, a true friend. Always willing to help out people and expect nothing in return. Heaven just gained the best angel ever. We love you Noel.

In addition to our earlier condolence…
I enjoyed Noel,s commitment, friendship, and social activities around the soccer community for over 40 years.
We originally met as soccer players, referees and later years as coaches.
Noel was a valuable member of the St Catharines Jets soccer club, where we spent many enjoyable hours coaching in the community, and in later years with Elite players securing scholarships throughout the U.S.A.
Always a gentleman and a pleasure to call a great friend of mine,my wife and her sister…sadly he is already missed..
