Obituary of Murray Mikituk

It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Mikituk announces his passing on Wednesday, November 15th at the age of 86 with his family by his side. Murray will be sadly missed by his children Matthew (Shelley) Mikituk and Erica (Jeff) Bilodeau, his grandchildren Zackery-Ty Mikituk, Emily Bilodeau and Jarod Bilodeau and his sister Marlene Bennett. Predeceased by his wife Glenda (nee Finch), March 13 2016, brother in law Mac Bennett, and his parents John and Mary Mikituk. Papa was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments and tried to attend all of their ball hockey, soccer, and baseball games.

Murray enjoyed golfing, going to the gym, yoga, writing poetry, and doing a good crossword. He very much enjoyed going to garage sales with his son with both of them hoping to find the “Holy Grail” of collectables. Murray and Glenda were married at Central United Church in Welland and were members for more than 50 years. Murray is a retiree of Fantom Technologies after 35 years of service.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 1-4pm at the Welland arena. The family invites anyone that would like to come for a light lunch and to share their memories with the family. Murray loved the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs so the family would be honored if anyone would like to wear their jerseys to the celebration of life.

Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Essentials Cremations in Welland. The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Rose, Welland Hospital, and Essentials for all their help and care during this time.

Donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice
