Obituary of Michael "Mike" Verbeek
Peacefully surrounded by his family Michael passed away at the St. Catharines Hospital, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the age of 65. Loving and supportive father of Megan (Gabe) and Steven. Dear brother of Bill (Christine) Verbeek, Jake (Roxanne) Verbeek, Shorty (the late Bea) Verbeek, Sena (the late Mark) Postma, Ann (the late Cor) Verbeek, Alwynn (the late Ed) Verbeek, Betty (Jack) Zaenglien and Tinie (and the late Ed) Visser. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families, and also by his extended family members in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his parents Rip and Jenny Verbeek.Mike's favourite pastime involved a variety of sports however, he was most passionate about baseball and hockey. He always enjoyed cheering for the Boston Bruins, especially when they were facing the Leafs! Everyone who knew him will remember Mike as a caring and compassionate person. He was the type that would give you the shirt off his back and was driven, determined and always did what he thought was right. Mike was always chatty and would easily connect with people and often made them feel more like a friend than a stranger. He will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to Amie Gifford, who was like a second daughter to Mike and gave so much support and guidance to Megan and Steven throughout the years. Also to the staff working in the ICU at the St. Catharines Hospital for their outstanding care.
In accordance with Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 2-5p.m. at Bethany Community Church, 1388 Third Street Louth, St. Catharines. Special remarks and memories will be shared at 2:30pm. In memory of Mike, memorial donations may be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Juravinski Cancer Centre.

Mike was not
Only like a brother he was someone who looked at my Mom as a second mother always lending a hand and always willing to teach.
