Obituary of Michael Daniel McNeil

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael McNeil at his home, surrounded by family, on October 13, 2024, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 62 years to Carol. Devoted and loving father to Michelle (Roger) Demers, Mike, and Jeanie (Allan) Stoyka. He was the cherished Papa of Sterling, Carly, Forrest, Owen (Emma), Taylor, Anthony, Frances, Matthew, Shannon, and Kyle, and a proud great-grandfather to Scout-Marie and Harper. Michael was one of 13 children, and is survived by his brother Alex McNeil and his sisters Katherine Bray, Mary Bray, Jean MacDonald, Patricia Brown, Anne Neary, Stephanie Clarke, Marguerite McNeil, and Teresa Garcin. He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his parents Michael & Clara, and his sisters Clare O'Regan, Frances MacDonald, and Monica Mansell.

When Jesus said “you are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world,” Michael is someone that comes to mind. Grounded in faith, he led by example, never failing to always protect and preserve his family. His home was a warm inviting place and he opened his doors to many, none were refused. He was a Master Carpenter with incredible skills for solving problems, both in life and in the workshop. He also lived his faith through his carpentry by completing many important small jobs for the Church. Michael overcame many obstacles in his life to be the strong head of his family. He lived his life “one day at a time” and will be missed every day for the rest of his family's lives. The family asks that you pray for Michael: “Thank you God for giving us such a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. I know he was only on loan to us and we ask in the name of Jesus he be guided to his loving family in heaven.” May he rest in peace.

In keeping with Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Alexander Church.
