Obituary of Mark "Freddie" Robert Flintoft
Mark "Freddie" FlintoftAfter a short battle with pancreatic and liver cancer, Mark passed away in the early hours of the morning on May 13th, at the age of 57. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Linda (Bob) and Debbie; his nieces and nephews Les (Amanda), Tamiko (Bill), Dustin (Jackleen) and Amanda (Paul); his great nieces Isabella, Maygan and Mackenzy; by Julie, Cortney (Brad), Sarah (Brian) and Hannah (Steve); the littles that called him Punden – Hunter, Chase, Grey, Carson, Evie, Olivia and Ryerson; and by his dear friend Jen.
At a young age, Mark started driving truck for Larry, then began working for companies like Stephens, Rankin and D&D operating heavy machinery and driving. He eventually bought his own Peterbilt and drove for Laidlaw. Mark was an avid fan of Nascar, he had a love for racing that started at an early age. This paved the way to him building his own Sportsman race car and racing at Merrittville Speedway. He was passionate about golfing and most weekends were spent with Craig and the guys on the course at Waterpark or Riverview. Another of his great passions was riding motorcycles. He rode right from his early days on minibikes, then on to dirt bikes, all the way to street bikes. For Mark, not much compared to a ride on his Harley. Mark always had an unfaltering love for animals, and when you saw him, his dog was never far behind.
Mark will be forever missed and loved by all who knew him and the many that called him “Uncle Mark”. Donations in his honour can be made to your local SPCA. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at a later date. Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared on Mark’s tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com
