Obituary of Maria Wypkema
Maria WypkemaJune 15, 1950 – August 4, 2025
After a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s, Maria was released very peacefully, free from pain, with family at her side. She will be forever loved by her husband, Anton Gosley. Maria will be missed by her sisters Christa and Ingrid (Paul); brothers Ron (Cecile), Peter (Lesley), and Tony; brother-in-law Tim (Petra) Kixmöller Gosley; as well as her nieces and nephew, Laurel, Emily, Jeromy, and Naomi; and great-niece Charlotte.
Maria was a woman of caring, warmth, wit, and quiet strength. She found joy in the simple things, writing letters, sending cards, and sharing her famous Christmas baking and recipes with family and friends. She had a deep love for plants, animals and an even deeper love for her family. She adored her mother, Charlotte, and there is great peace in knowing they are now reunited. Maria and Anton shared more than just a life together, they were square dancing partners in every sense, spending many joyful hours learning steps side by side.
She cherished time spent at the family’s old farmhouse, surrounded by loved ones and the comfort of tradition. Known for her quick wit and sharp comebacks, Maria brought light and laughter wherever she went.
Her family is especially grateful for the compassionate team of PSWs, nurses, and caregivers who supported Maria with wonderful care over the past several years.
In accordance with Maria's wishes, cremation has taken place, and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of Maria's life will be held at a later date; details will be announced. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Program at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital, Project Share, or the Canadian Red Cross. Online condolences may be shared on Maria’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.
The beauty of life is in what we give, in the love we share, the kindness we leave behind, and in the lives we touch along the way.

Anton. I am so sorry you that you no longer have Maria by your side. She was a very caring, loving and fun person to be with.
We were friends for 54 years. I am thinking back over the years and it brings a smile to my face.
Right now I am very sad, but I am glad she was set free. Hopefully she is with Charlotte and the two of them are making jam.
Take care Anton and hope to see you soon.
