Obituary of Maria Fanny Lopez Zapata

Maria Fanny Lopez Zapata, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, peacefully passed away at the NHS-St. Catharines Site on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the age of 83. Fanny was born in Colombia, where she spent the majority of her life. She was the beloved wife of Edgar Enrique Medina Tovar, and together they created a life filled with love, joy, and many memories with the family they created. 

As a dedicated homemaker, Fanny found fulfillment in creating a warm and loving home for her family. She took great pride in her role as a wife and mother, exemplifying strength, kindness, and selflessness. Fanny is survived by her daughter, Diana Patricia Medina Lopez (Jose Helmer Giraldo) and by her son, Carlos Federico Medina López (Mayola Garcia). She leaves behind great love that extends to her grandchildren, Maria Elisa Medina Garcia, Mariana Medina García, and Juan David Giraldo Medina.

In addition to her nurturing spirit, Fanny was known for her elegance. She always took great care of her hair, dress, and makeup, displaying grace where ever she went. She will be remembered as a woman of strong faith, as she found solace in prayer. Her spirituality was a source of strength throughout her life, providing comfort and guidance to those around her. In accordance with Fanny’s wishes, a private gathering and prayers were held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, Welland. Cremation has taken place. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were touched by her love and grace.
