Obituary of Margot Ellen Jane Shannon
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Margot Ellen Jane Shannon on Sunday November 17, 2024, at the age of 83. Margot met the love of her life Roger at the age of 20 and they spent 63 happy years together. She was the beloved mother to Greg (Michelle), Darren (Maureen) and Kelly (John),and the proud grandmother of Brendan, Ryan, Jack, Kristie(Spencer) and Cassie. Margot is survived by her sister Karen Congdon (Bill) and sister-in-law Pam Shannon (Brian). She is predeceased by her parents Jewell and Edward Legge and brothers Jim and Bill. She will be deeply missed by her extended family including nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. As the heart of her family, Margot was the happiest when surrounded by her children and grandkids. She was happy to have had the opportunity to attend her granddaughter’s wedding with her family in October. Those memories will be cherished by the Shannon family forever.
A sun lover, Margot enjoyed spending Sundays by the pool andwinters in Florida with Roger and her family. She cherished time with her loved ones, always looking forward to her monthly get-togethers with her card club friends.
Margot gave back to the Niagara Community by volunteering for the Hospital Auxiliary for several years at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. She began as a volunteer in the Gift Shop and went on to be the president of the Auxiliary.
The Family will be planning a Celebration of Life for family and friends early in the New Year. In accordance with Margot’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
