Obituary of Margaret Seebach

Surrounded by love and holding hands with her daughters, Margaret passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Marotta Hospital, at the age of 96. Margaret has been reunited with her beloved husband, Kenneth (1998) and will be remembered as a devoted mother and proud matriarch, who were deeply loved by her children: Karen, her late son Robert (Ada), Marnie (William) and Michael (Suzanne). She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Christine (Rich), Rob (Hanna), Andrew (Cheyenne ), Brooke (Rick), Steveon (Brittany), Justin, Kirstin (Brett), and Rielle, and a great-grandmother to ten cherished great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry on her legacy.

Margaret attended high school in Smithville and completed her nursing education at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. She was passionate about learning and pursued ongoing professional development throughout her career. As a highly respected nurse and healthcare administrator, Margaret dedicated many years to Linhaven, Home For Aged, eventually becoming Director of Care, a role she fulfilled until her retirement. She took great pride in her work, In the end she found great comfort being a resident at Linhaven with some of her colleagues that she welcomed onto the team decades before.

A woman of remarkable independence and energy, Margaret was still moving about on her own in her final days; she was even enjoying patio time in the rose garden enjoying a peach smoothie ,just days before her passing. She was an avid reader, a devoted animal lover, and a collector of Royal Doultons. She will be fondly remembered as an excellent bridge player, often playing at the Dunlop Seniors Centre and a long-time golfer and member of the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. Margaret enjoyed wintering in Florida and exploring the world, visiting destinations such as Asia, Europe, and many other locations. She formed meaningful friendships in St. Catharines, Vancouver, and all the places she lived. Margaret was a social butterfly, and she found great happiness being with her family, friends and colleagues.

Her unwavering dedication to her faith and church community was a pillar of her character; Margaret was an active member of the UCW at Mountainview United Church in St. Catharines, where she found friendship and purpose through service, whether it was making sandwiches for funeral receptions or offering support to those around her.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the compassionate medical team in the ER at the St. Catharines Marotta Hospital for their care in her final days and to the care staff at both Upper Canada Lodge and Linhaven Home for their support over the past five years.

In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A private family service and interment at McAfee Cemetery, Fort Erie, will be held later. For those who wish, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lincoln County Humane Society (SPCA).
