Obituary of Amanda "Mandy" Davies (née Durrant)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Amanda "Mandy" Davies (née Durrant) on October 10, 2023, at the age of 74. Mandy, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and an enduring sense of family.

Mandy was a devoted spouse to Thomas Davies and a loving mother to Dale Stecyk. She extended her motherly love to Rhonda Collee (Jeff), Cheryl Corris (John), and, in recent years, to Brittany, Megan and Jonathan. To her adoring grandchildren, she was affectionately known as "Nana Mandy." She leaves behind beautiful memories for Victoria (Tom), Joshua, Taylor, Royce, Hunter, Danika, Jacob, Gabriella, Abigail and Colin. She was also a cherished sister to Nigel Durrant (Pat) along with their family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace "Terry" and Betty Durrant (née Fardell). Her warm presence will be deeply missed by her extended Davies family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all whose lives were enriched by her kindness.

Amanda, born on July 10, 1949, exuded a profound love for life from a young age. Her passion for dance, particularly salsa, was well-known, and she had a knack for lighting up the dance floor. Mandy was a true music lover, embracing all genres except country. One of Mandy's most cherished qualities was her nurturing spirit. She possessed a heart that knew no bounds, always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. She was known to rescue not only people but also plants, animals, insects, and anything requiring her care and compassion. She was far from typical; there was a time she rode a 1980 Honda motorcycle and had a deep affection for her 1981 blue firebird. Over the years, she worked diligently in various automotive shops and working through home renos, learning many tricks of the trade from her father, a finished carpenter.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Niagara and NHS - St. Catharines Site for their exceptional care and support throughout Mandy's journey.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has already taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of Mandy's life will take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Thorold Legion Branch 17, 3 Ormond St S, Thorold, ON, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to join and share their cherished memories of this remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Greater Niagara Humane Society in Mandy's honor.

Mandy Davies was a true treasure, a radiant presence in the lives of those she held dear. Her enduring smile, unwavering strength, resilience, nurturing spirit, and zest for life will be forever etched in our memories. May her memory continue to inspire us all.

I only saw Mandy a few times but it was enough to know she was a special person. Even though her plight was severe she always had a smile and took time to chat. I liked her very much. She will be missed.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.

Although we didn’t see Mandy often, her warmth & kindness poured out from her each time we had the chance to sit and chat. And that smile! She was truly a very special woman. It’s no wonder Rhonda & Jeff speak so highly of her. Rest in peace Mandy. We’ll miss you.
