Obituary of Jared S. MacDonald

It is with sadness that we announce that “The King”, Jared MacDonald, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, at the age of 82. Jared was a beloved and devoted husband of 63 years to Beatrice. He will be forever loved by his daughters Irene (Chris) Adams and Lorraine MacDonald, and has been reunited with his dear son Jerry (1989). A proud grandpa to Lindsay, Colton, Jesse and Ainsley and proud papa to 8 great-grandchildren. Jared had a great sense of humour and joked that he was “the last man standing” in his family as he was predeceased by his 9 siblings.

One of his greatest strengths was being able to bring a smile and laughter to his family and friends. He always knew what was going on in the world of sports as he watched them morning to night. Jared was a lifelong fan of European football and he cheered for the Glasgow Rangers. He also found great enjoyment casting his fishing line into waters hoping for the next big catch; this is where he would truly be in his happy place.

Many referred to him as “The King”. He was the patriarch of our family and his presence will be deeply missed and always remembered. We know that Dad and Jerry have found their new fishing hole and they are together again.

Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to St. Joseph’s medical team for the support and attention provided to Jared.

Jared loved his Scottish heritage; it was something he always carried with him in his heart. At his request, cremation has taken place. Please join us for a celebration of Jared’s life being held at the Blackheath Lions Club Hall, 105 Haldibrook Road, Binbrook, on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2pm-6pm. At a later date, his remains will be taken home to Scotland, to be laid at rest with his family. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). Memorial donations may be given to the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences can be shared on Jared's tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com.
