Obituary of Louis Gobbi

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Lou passed away in his home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, just prior to his 81st birthday. He has now been reunited with his beloved wife Lorena (2000). He was a strong and loving father of Greg (Karrie) and April (Stuart) Gregory. Proud Papa of Carla, Aryana, Luca, Kyra, Garrett, Lindsy, Brett and Holly (Delvin), Franceso, and Great-Papa of Delvin, Lorena, and Carson. Lou will be remembered by extended family members and friends. Lou was also predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Helen, also by his daughter JoAnn, and grandson Rocco.

Lou was born, raised and spent his life in Welland. He dedicated numerous years of his life to Atlas Steel, happily retiring in the 1990s, leaving behind an indelible mark through his active involvement in the union.
His heart found great joy in the loving company of family at the cottage where they created many memories. A passionate enthusiast of the great outdoors, he reveled in the sport of hunting and fishing. Our family will miss and remember him for crafting a delightful Sunday pasta dinner that became a cherished tradition among family members.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services Welland. A private family gathering will be held, as well as an interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lou can be given to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or Juravinski Cancer Centre.

The family has kindly asked that if you send your love by clicking the heart on Louis' tribute page that you also leave your name in a condolence, so the family knows who is sending this loving gesture.

As a family, we send our love to each of you. Enzo and I have so many memories of great times spent together. The cottage, parties, coffee visits. His stoic demeanor, wisdom and sense of humour. The laughter we’ve shared! Oh, his ability to “string you along”, straight faced and oh so serious, until he lets ya go. Even the least gullible could be caught! Ideas for cottage modifications and to cut down trees cooked up while enjoying beers on the deck. Deep discussions on just about every topic possible.
He was a pillar of strength and love. And he loved you all so deeply. He is in each and every one of you, always. May you all find some peace knowing he is now reunited with Lorena, JoAnn and Rocco.
