Obituary of Lorina DeGrace (neé Vienneau)

Lorina DeGrace (neé Vienneau)

Passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 86. She is reunited with her husband, Valmond and her son Norbert. Eternally loved and remembered by her granddaughter, Vicki Millard, Vicki’s son Liam and her fiancée Ron Hurst. Missed by her furry friends, Samson the boston terrier and Rosie, Stella and Ollie the pugs, who all had their place keeping her company by her chair. Mother of Joeann Millard (Ian), Jerry DeGrace (Linda), John DeGrace (Jo-Ann), Diane Samson (Steve), Michelle David (Marc), and grandma to 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Cherished sister to Teresa Aube (Reg), Blanche Boudreau (the late Adrien), and Gerald Vienneau (Imelda). Predeceased by her siblings Alvin, Lina, Emery, and Ida. Lorina will be missed by many nieces and nephews, her friends and extended family.

Lorina was lovingly known to most nieces and nephews as “Aunt Jackie”. She will be remembered for many things but was renowned for her fudge and meat pies. She was the best stone skipper. Whenever she could find a good stone, she would skip it on an ocean, lake, or any body of water she could find. She had the sweetest smile and a sharp wit, bringing with her a skilled organization where nothing was ever out of place. Regardless, if she was in Ontario or her birth province New Brunswick, she always said she felt at home. Lorina loved puzzles of all kinds, word or 1000 pieces. She loved sitting with Vicki and Ron and listening to country music. She always had a love for children and would give the greatest care. As a babysitter, she came up with creative ideas for example, if she placed down newspapers before kids made a mess, it made cleanup that much easier which gave her more time to spend with the kids. She joined in all the fun with the children, whether it be tobogganing, skiing, snowball fights and many more activities. Lorina will be remembered by everyone that knew her beautiful smile.
