Obituary of Lori Edith Marie Blaskin-Mahamuni

Lori Edith Marie Blaskin-Mahamuni
August 7, 1969 – June 12, 2021

Passed away surrounded by family in the comfort of her home on June 12, 2021. Dearly missed by the love of her life of 15 years, Alex Mahamuni and devoted mother to Keira (Kevin), Tineisha, Suraya, and Tianna. Cherished sister to Chris (Jodie) and missed by her new puppy Lacy. Predeceased and reunited with her parents Doris and Jim Blaskin. She will be missed by her many, many friends. Lori touched many people through her work and will be remembered by everyone she went above and beyond for and had touched in her life.

If you asked anyone who knew Lori to describe her, some of the characteristics that would be mentioned would be selfless, sweet, strong, confident, loving and fun among many others. Lori was your classic “princess”, loving pink, all things happy, sunshine and lounging on beaches around the world. Her favourite actresses that always made her laugh included Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. You would never see Lori with unpolished nails, she loved getting the full treatment and having them done. The only things she was not a fan of was the news, scary movies, spiders, or camping. She liked the outdoors, but glamping only!

Lori took so much pride in her working life, starting off in the childcare industry for over 20 years. She took her job very seriously and all the parents felt safe placing their children into her hands. After leaving that industry, she carried those aspects into her positions in the hospitality and restaurant industry. She loved recognition of her work from her customers, peers, and those she worked with and she loved what she did.

With her hard work, she enjoyed her vacation time even more. She would travel independently but also took a lot of delight in planning trips for their family to enjoy. Her children were her life and to say she loved life would be an understatement. Lori and Alex found their love in 2004 in Calgary, the love of a lifetime, and replanted it in Southern Ontario in 2018. Lori would often say "everything happens for a reason". Lori had a strong spirit and was a believer in making the best of any situation. To not miss out on opportunities defined how she felt.

The family would like to thank everyone in the Niagara Health System and the Hamilton Brant Region that were there for Lori, Alex, and their kids. They would also like to thank all the friends that supported them during this journey.

Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) has been entrusted with arrangements. As per Lori’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Lori will take place on June 17, 2021 from 5-7pm but in alignment with pandemic restrictions, all those who wish to attend must RSVP to reserve a time. Lori was a mom to all of us who worked at the bistro in Bragg Creek and I’m devastated that she’s gone. Her sense of humour, her generosity and the impact she had on our small town was incredible, she was a strong force of life! Lori will always be a princess in my mind, a beautiful, strong women who loved life.
Sending all my love to the family during this difficult time, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Sending so much love to you all. Lori was a force to be reckoned with, a firecracker spitfire. But she was also so supportive and soft where she needed to be. I feel blessed to have some really amazing memories with her. ❤
