Obituary of Lois Jean Mills (née Dougan)

Lois Jean Mills (née Dougan), a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved Nana, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Lloyd Mills. On July 18, 1970, Lois and Lloyd exchanged vows, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that lasted fifty-three beautiful years. Loving mother of Cheryl Mills and Michael Mills (Wheath Ralla). Lois brought warmth and joy to the lives of her grandchildren: Brody, Casey, and Uilliam. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Sheila, nephew Sean, and nieces Becky and Lisa. Lois was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas, Gary, and Robert.

Lois was an extraordinary soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She had an unparalleled love for animals, particularly dogs, and could often be found with a furry friend by her side. Her passions extended to reading, indulging in fast drives in her 2018 Camaro, engaging in card games like euchre and cribbage and skillfully knitting sweaters. She relished in the camaraderie of the Thursday Night Coffee Group, where friendships blossomed over shared laughter and stories of her grandchildren. Lois had an innate love for travel and cherished places like Ireland, Lake Louise and the Rockies. Her musical heart resonated with melodies from artists like Rod Stewart and Elvis Presley, a reflection of her timeless taste. Lois possessed a remarkable sense of humor, playfully embracing life with her kid-like spirit. Her wit, intelligence and unwavering determination were admired by all who knew her. Beneath her vibrant personality, she held a gentle kindness that radiated to everyone around her. Lois dedicated thirty years of her life to her work at Nabisco, leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues and creating lasting memories.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Villa de Rose and Bella Senior Care for their unwavering care and support during Lois's later years.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and her arrangements were entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lois's memory to the Niagara Falls Humane Society, a cause that resonated deeply with her compassionate spirit.
