Obituary of Linda Baila

We are deeply saddened to share that Linda Baila passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in hospice care with her family at her side. Linda was born on March 4, 1951, in Niagara Falls. She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, spending much of her career helping patients recover after illness and injury. Later in her career, she focused on mental health and wellbeing. She taught patients how to care for themselves, drawing on passions from her home life, such as cooking, and passing those skills along. Her advocacy for health and wellbeing extended to her family, whom she cared for deeply. Linda was also a strong advocate within the health system and beyond, always striving to ensure the best care possible.

Linda was a voracious reader, especially of fiction, a love she passed on to her children. She spent many hours tending to her gardens and leaves behind a beautiful mix of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. Those who knew her will also remember her baking and cooking, and the many happy hours spent around her kitchen table. In her retirement, she joined a bowling league, where she found new friendships and a fun way to stay active in the community. No matter how hard he tried, her husband Nick could never quite beat her score!

Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Nick Baila, as well as her sons Nicholas, Brendon, and Craig. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice Niagara’s Walker House in Welland, Ontario Health at Home, Greater Niagara General Hospital, and the Walker Family Cancer Centre for their compassionate care and support in Linda’s final days. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place, with arrangements entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A memorial lunch will be held on Sunday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Betty’s Restaurant in Chippawa. Friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate Linda, share their memories, and commemorate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Niagara. Online condolences may be shared on Linda’s tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com.
