Obituary of Leo Francis Dufresne

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Leo Francis Dufresne who passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2023 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 87. Devoted husband of the late Anne (2019) and loving partner and fiancé of Sheila Turcotte, cherished father of Lori (Kevin) and Wendy (Mike), proud grandpa of Travis (Laura), Joshua (Chelsey), Dylan (Tat), Katelyn (Allan) and great grandpa to his special little sweetie, Callie. He will be dearly missed by his siblings Hector, Leona, Shirley, Rita and his twin brother Lionel. Also left to mourn are his many nieces, nephews, extended family members.

Born in Benny, Ontario in 1935, Leo loved the outdoors. He helped to build a family cottage at Lake Onaping where a lot of family memories were made. He also enjoyed being on the ice, whether it was playing hockey with the Skylon Old Timers hockey team, Sunday skating with the family or watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play. He was a strong man who worked at the Port Weller dry docks for many years and later becoming a custodian for the Niagara District School Board. He would never complain about anything and when asked how he was, his response was always "I'm fine". He was a selfless, patient and kind man and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him but especially by his close friend Georgina.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 6548 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 10:30am to 11:30am followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m and inurnment at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or to a charity of your choice.

Debbie and I want to give our sincerest condolences to Leo’s family and friends and my Mother (Sheila Turcotte). We loved the times we spent with him. Whether it was video calling with my mom and him every Sunday, or in person in Niagara Falls, in our home or fishing with him at the cottage that we go to. He was a caring and fun loving man. We will miss him.
