Obituary of Kathleen Wilde

Kathleen Wilde, of Niagara Falls Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at her residence in Niagara Falls at the age of 102 years old. Daughter of the late Thomas John and Mary Ann Wilde of St. Bruno, Quebec and the beloved wife of the late George MacPherson, also of Niagara Falls Ontario. Sister of the late John Harold “Hal” Wilde of Houston, Texas, Ronald Joseph Wilde of Detroit, Michigan, Hugh Gerald Wilde of Detroit, Michigan, Ralph M. Wilde of Buffalo New York; she was the beloved aunt of Brian Wilde, Dawn Marie Wilde Patton, Thomas Wilde, Cathy Wilde Patapis, Patty Wilde Ash, Julie Wilde Fred, Cindy Wilde Reeves, Laura Wilde Turk, Ronald Wilde, Wayne Wilde, Christina Wilde, Karen Wilde Cynowa, and Leslie Wilde.

Born on December 13, 1918 in Melville Saskatchewan, and a lover of her country Canada, Kathleen worked her entire career at Air Canada, was a published author, a world traveller and an accomplished painter. In later life, Kathleen delved into her family history. Her interests culminated in the publication of the Wilde family genealogy, both the European and Canadian heritage from 1800-1945. Her book was published in 2018 at the age of 99 years old.

Kathleen relished long discussions on a variety of topics including current events and books she had read, but always came back to her lifelong passion of her family history.

She often talked about her grandmother, Veronica Wild, travelling with her three young boys overland from the Austrian Empire to the Hamburg Boat Line and the treacherous crossing of the Atlantic Ocean to Canada. Kathleen considered her family genealogy book as one of the great accomplishments of her retirement years. She has left her legacy in our minds and in print. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). The burial will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill, Ontario. The services are private. Memorial donations may go towards the charity of your choice. Online condolences can be shared on Kathleen’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com
