Obituary of Katherine Shea

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathy on January 28, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Left to mourn her loss are her children, Paul (Andrea) and Kristen (Jay), her grandchildren, Kennedy, Ryen, Taylor and Marshall, her sisters Sue (Joe) and Pat, as well as Kristen and Paul's father, Patrick, and many other family members. Kathy is predeceased by her parents, Gerald (2016) and Rita (2018), as well as her sister Betsy (2020). Born in Toronto, Kathy moved around as a child between Kitchener/Waterloo and the Niagara area, finally settling in St. Catharines to raise her family. Kathy provided the best life her children could have and would do anything to make sure they were happy and well loved - family meant everything to her. Kathy’s proudest moments were when her grandbabies were born - she absolutely loved being a “gramma”! She enjoyed spending time in her garden, barefoot, planting different flowers and plants that would attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies (her favourite!). Kathy was known best for her beautiful smile - it lit up a room whenever she entered! She worked as a Personal Support Worker at Extendicare for nearly 20 years and made it her priority to ensure all her residents were well cared for, treated with respect, and always made each of them feel special. Kathy was an empath and earth angel, with a heart of gold, but if you did something that went against her values, you heard about it! She was always true to herself, her beliefs, and gave love out like she was made of it. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In keeping with Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 734 1031). A celebration of Kathy's life will be held in June. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to her niece Ange - you were our rock and strength through this whole process, and we can't thank you enough for being there for us in our time of need. To honour Kathy's memory, raise a cup of tea and toast to a wonderful soul gone way too soon.
