Obituary of Karen Ann Prow
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Karen Ann Prow on January 7, 2025, at Hospice Niagara, surrounded by the love of her family.Born in Toronto on January 20, 1957, Karen was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Barry Winger (1992) and Dennis Prow (2004). She is survived by her parents, Donald and Arlene Pye of Uxbridge, ON, and her cherished children: Nicole Winger (Aderito Pacheco), Erin Bartsch (Pete), Jim Winger (Ali), and Siobhan Vering (Jonathan). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Beatriz, Grace, Brixton, Ridley, Liam, and Ruben, as well as her sisters Beverly Martino (Domenic), Julie Pye, and Cathy Pye (Ron Botnick). Karen also leaves behind her stepson, Scott Prow (Jen), and their children, Zach and Julianna.
Known for her gentle and kind nature, Karen's greatest joy in life was her family, particularly her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. Her favorite moments were those spent curled up with a good book under a cozy blanket, enjoying the gentle breeze through an open window. She had a passion for lilacs, scented candles, and savoring good food. Travel was another source of joy for Karen, especially her cherished trips to Germany to visit her daughter, Siobhan, and her extended family.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hospice Niagara for their exceptional care during Karen’s final days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In keeping with Karen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Niagara in Karen’s memory.
