Obituary of Judy Sheila Brown
After a lengthy and courageous battle, Judy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Welland Hospital. She was in her 80th year. Judy's spirit, strong-willed nature, and resilience remained unwavering until the very end.Judy has now been reunited with her beloved husband and best friend, Walt (2018). She was the much-loved mother of Chris (Yuko) and Les (Luciann). Her role as Grandma was a source of immense joy, and she adored her grandchildren, Jordanne and Jessica, who brought pride and boundless happiness to her life. Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother, and her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.
Judy will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Ruth (John) Kormos, as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Eileen (Rick) Westaway, Don Clark, and Fran (Allan) Coons.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to her sister Ruth and nieces Laura and Carol for their undeniable companionship and care, which gave Mom great pleasure and purpose, especially over these last few years.
Judy filled her life with various pursuits, from her visits to the casino to spending time with her many furry companions, especially Charlie and Hina. She cherished the thrill of traveling, with family trips to Disney holding a special place in her heart.
Judy's dedication and service extended to her profession in nursing at the Welland Hospital, where she served for nearly 50 years. Her no-nonsense approach and dedication to the role, made her a proud and respected member of the health care community.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Judy's palliative care team, with special appreciation for the nurses at Niagara Health System and the personal support workers from St. Elizabeth.
In accordance with Judy's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Judy’s family welcomes all to a gathering to celebrate her life at the Blue Star Restaurant, 676 King Street, Welland, on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations given to Make A Wish Foundation Canada, would be greatly appreciated by Judy’s family.
