Obituary of Judy Ann Debernardi

Passed away peacefully, with her husband by her side, on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 75. Judy was the beloved best friend and wife of 56 years to Arthur. Cherished and devoted mother to James and Timothy (Leslie). Proud grandmother of Sarah and Hudson. Much loved sister to William (Joan), Joan (Dan), Ken and Nancy (Jim). Dear aunt to Evelene, Richard, Jodie, Stacey, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, and late Jessica. Judy will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by her mother and father, Lillian and Adelard Drouillard.

Early in her career, Judy worked for Green Shield Canada, after which she spent time working at a Veterinary clinic. It was here that her passion for providing care was reaffirmed, prompting her to pursue her dream of a nursing career. Judy received her Nursing Degree at the age of 45, and was honoured as Valedictorian of her class. Following years of nursing, she would go on to become the Executive Director at Lundy Manor until her retirement in 2017. Judy took tremendous pride in her job. Her high standard of care and compassion was a testament to the fact that caring for others was her true vocation in life.

Judy will be remembered as a smart, positive person. She had a calming presence, and always tried to look on the bright side of things. She was known for her warm nature, and for her giggling, which at times, seemed almost uncontrollable. She enjoyed baking, shopping, and all things Disney, especially Snow White. Above all else, Judy will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family, and being with them gave her the greatest joy of her life.

In keeping with Judy's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A visitation will be held at Gateway Community Church, 1615 Niagara Stone Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Thursday, April 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Judy's life will be held on Friday, April 22 at Gateway at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon (details will be provided at the service). A private family interment will take place at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Awana Canada.

My precious friend is finally at peace. Our connection began in the early years of Green Shield and along with our other friend Marg; we were a threesome that lasted 52 years. We had so many great adventures which i will always cherish. Judy was a one of a kind —truthful, funny and above all always helpful. She was a professional when needed and a fantastic friend always. I know she will be missed by many as a person with Judy’s qualities do not come around often.
I will miss her.
