Obituary of Joy Biggs (née Barry)

We are deeply heartbroken by the unexpected passing of our mom on November 9, 2024, at the age of 88. Joy Roberta Biggs who passed away with family by her side, holding her close until her last breath.

Mom was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and eventually moved to Niagara Falls at a young age, where she met her love, George Biggs. Mom lived a full and meaningful life in Niagara Falls. She loved dedicating her work in the tourism industry and expressed so much gratitude to have worked until she was 75 years old. Her inner strength, determination and commitment to what she set her mind to was truly admirable. She was also an avid Maple Leaf fan (particularly fond of #34) and made sure she did not miss a game. She took pride in fashion, beauty, design and keeping up with all the latest trends. Most importantly, mom’s main priority was her family, she would do anything for us. She was our cheerleader and our hero.

Joy is survived by her son, Wayne Biggs, daughter Diane Biggs-Zayac (Marvin Zayac) and grand fur baby Toaders. She was predeceased by her husband George Biggs and son Brian Biggs.

It may be time to say goodbye mom but we know you are walking with angel wings beside us as you always have, encouraging us to keep the strength that was always in you, we are forever with you.

I am so sorry to have just learned this. Beautiful auntie Joy was allways in my thoughts as my mom’s beloved sister. All 4 ft 11 inches of her blonde bombshellness! I remember this because she was the exact same height as her mom as I remember nanny and auntie Joy laughing about how short they both were and much taller my mom was to them. Auntie Joy received recognition for donating blood to the Red Cross which inspired me to be kind and thoughtful like her. ♥️
