Obituary of Jorden Rene Shelly

SHELLY, Jorden Rene
August 3, 2000 ~ May 18, 2019
On Saturday afternoon, in the smallest room of our home that held an abundance of love and stories, Jorden passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved parents, Rene Shelly and Sandy Hill, his sister Alex and many family and friends. Cherished grandson of Ralph Hill and Joan Shelly. Greatly loved nephew of Ben Hill, Tammy Hill, Kim Shelly (Randy Zabor), Lenny (Anita) Shelly, and Half Uncle Patrick Shavalier (Christine Baker). Jorden will be forever loved and adored by his many cousins and numerous friends. He will especially be missed by his four legged nurse (and furry friend) OB. Jorden has been reunited with his loved ones who have passed before, his grandmother Joan Hill and grandfather Leonard Shelly.
Jorden was ill throughout the past year, however our family and friends are left with memories for a lifetime, and those memories are what Jorden wanted us to remember. We reflect on some of his greatest accomplishments as a young man, recently celebrating his graduation with his fellow peers of Stamford Collegiate High School, Class of 2018. It was through his years at Stamford that he loved spending time with his friends (who were more like his family) and participating in his favourite sports, football and powerlifting. At the young age of 12, Jorden enjoyed many hunting trips with his family in Pine Springs, Ontario. He was quick witted, loved to make everyone smile and always put everyone before himself even when he was sick. Jorden loved his time working at Betty’s Restaurant, where he worked in the kitchen for 2 years. A special thank you to Jorden’s cancer team from SickKids, McMaster and Juravinski Hospital, who all provided exceptional care and kindness, and also to the staff and students of Stamford Collegiate for their love, support and friendship. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A Celebration of Jorden's Life will be held at Betty's Restaurant, 8921 Sodom Rd, Niagara Falls, on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 6-9pm. Memorial donations may be given to Stamford Collegiate's athletic department. Online condolences may be shared on Jorden's tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

“Jorden, now you can rest easy. Sweet dreams.”

I don’t know what to say, what can be really said during sad times. I had the pleasure of meeting Jorden, while having a few beers with his dad and telling him about stuff we did when we were around his age. He was such a outstanding personable kid that had the potential for a bright future. it’s just breaks your heart when he didn’t have that opportunity. R.I.P. Jorden.

I was very sad to learn of Jorden’s passing. I have many fond memories from his time at Stamford, when he was in my class and then when he was my peer tutor. He loved to talk about his hunting trips and his football. He was such a good-natured, kind, fun-loving and compassionate person. He will truly be missed by so many people. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I never really had a personal experience with Jorden myself, but I can remember seeing him around in the hallways at Stamford sometimes.

Seeing all the tributes to and about Jorden, I never knew how much of a caring, kind, respectful and friendly person he was. When I was up north with family on Sunday and came across the news that Jorden had passed, I felt my heart sink and break for his family and friends.

My deepest condolences go out to Alex and the family during this understandably very difficult and really tough time and my thoughts and prayers are also with the family and everyone who knew him very well.

My heart is broken reading about the passing of Jorden. He was such an amazing, respectful, and mature young man.

He was my student in grade 8. He joked with me one day (I was a vegetarian at the time) “Ms.Randall, you will start eating meat again if you tried some of my family’s venison”. He brought some in! We laughed a lot that day because I couldn’t get over how good it was!!

Rest easy Jorden! Your life was cut way too short.

A lot of hugs to his family and friends during this VERY difficult time.

Alex, I hug you extra tight.

How blessed I, and my sons, Gage and Tyson Shelly, have been to have known Jorden. I have very fond memories of a little boy who was not only extremely cute, but high energy, kind and affectionate. Jorden, you are in the most amazing place now; with others who have passed and were there to welcome you. Rene and Sandy, you have so much to be proud of. So much. All my love to both of you and Alex in the coming months as you learn how to live without his physical presence.

Jordan was a bright light in my math class at Stamford. He’d arrive right after gym class…sometimes showered, sometimes not…always in a Stamford gym shirt with the arms ripped off (on purpose of course… to show off his arms). Omgosh he had the whole class laughing, almost everyday, making what could’ve been a super tough class, one that we all looked forward to. If he could make math class fun, I can only imagine the good times he must’ve had with his friends! And of course, I feel so sorry for these friends to lose such a wonderful young man. This is such sad news to hear of his death, and I offer my sincerest condolences for his family and loved ones. ALWAYS A HORNET.

I didnt know Jorden too well or for very long. We used to talk quite a bit a few years ago but unfortunately lost touch. I remember back in 2015, I was in chippewa at a baseball tournament. I was messaging Jorden expressing how bored I was and he lived right by the park the tournament was held at and walked over to hangout with me, I’ll never forget that. When I heard Jorden was sick it absolutely crushed me and he didnt know it, I checked his social media every once in a while to make sure he was okay… I will miss him forever

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.

My privilege to have met Jorden in recent times, along with Sandy, Rene and Alex. Great admiration for this young man. I saw first hand the success of his (much too short) life on the weekend at his family home..he had obviously touched a lot of peoples’ lives in the most positive way. The home was filled with friends and family who were there to support him to the very end..he was much loved. Wayne has passed along to me his memories of him growing up in the family – he will live on.
