Obituary of Johann "John" Kah

With love and heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Johann "John" Kah on Monday, June 3, 2024 at the NHS-Welland Site at the age of 78. He has been reunited with his parents Jakob and Anna Maria (née Schmidt) and his son Richard Kah (1999). John was married to Amelia (née Carrocci) for almost 56 years and father to his children Deborah McCracken and David Kah, grandpa to Justin Kah and Jessica Gibson. He leaves behind his brothers; Jakob Kah (Aline 2019), Franz Kah, Peter Kah and sister Kathy Champis (Joe). John was a brother-in-law to Frances LaCroix (Al), Adrienne Fortin (Roger 2006), Sandra LaCroix (Paul), Frank Carrocci (Linda) and Larry Carrocci (Monique). He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

John was born in Austria and came to Canada with his family in 1953. They landed in Montreal but then settled in Port Colborne in 1957 where he lived the rest of his life. He had a love for classic cars and trucks of his youth. He enjoyed a simple life, puttering around, collecting treasures or watching Western movies and tv shows about history.

John hung up his hard hat after almost 30 years of employment at Union Carbide to enjoy his retirement.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Overholt Cemetery in Port Colborne. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Welland. If desired, donations in John's memory may be made to the Arthritis Society and would be greatly appreciated by his family. Online condolences may be shared on John's tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.
