John "Jack" Lohnes passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023 at age 94 at NHS- St. Catharines with his family by his side. Born in Chicago Jack did his undergraduate studies at Yale on an athletic scholarship where, along with academia, he excelled in both football and track gaining the nickname “the stocky speedster”. He went on to complete his MBA at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.Jack spent his entire career in management consulting, senior executive search and Board recruitment at Booze Allen, Korn Ferry, his own Manhatten firm and Spencer Stuart in New York and Connecticut.
What a man - Jack was a dynamic, smart, determined individual, seemingly invincible, who loved life to the full and considered himself a very “lucky man”.
He moved to Canada following his marriage to Barbara and together they pursued their passion for travel to Australia, Africa, Asia, Costa Rica, Europe, South America and, of course, to his home country of the United States. When at home they took great delight in entertaining friends.
Jack was married to Barbara Whittall for 31 years and was the proud father of John Lohnes (Sarah), Christopher Lohnes (Lenore), Elizabeth Cinque (Stephen), Timothy Lohnes (Darlene), Mary Lohnes McCollon and Luke Lohnes (Laura). He was predeceased by his daughter Frances Perry Lohnes in 2021.
