In Loving Memory of
John "Sid" Walker Hollinshead
1949 - 2023
Obituary of John "Sid" Walker Hollinshead
It is with deepest heartache we announce the passing of our family hero on Sunday, April 30, 2023 age 74. Growing up in Thorold South, John dedicated his life to providing for others. He was employed at Ontario Paper Company as an Electrical Foreman for 48 years. John married the love of his life, Joanne, in 1972. They always had the time of their lives.John was devoted to his loved ones, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend. He was endlessly proud of his grandchildren Kristyn, Alex (Holly), Nate, Ella, Kayleigh, Peyton, Matthew, Grace, and Declan, as well as his great-grandchildren Addisyn and Harrison. He loved to spoil them with everything from trips to amusement parks, ice cream, his famous homemade pizza, and Sunday suppers.
Although John was a man of few words, he had a great impact through helping others. He was a lifelong and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 Thorold. He enjoyed his many years in the St. Catharines Cribbage League.
It's not how he died but how he lived that is his legacy. John will be deeply missed by his wife, Joanne; children: Janice, Tracey (Jeff), MCpl Doug (Laura), Sharon (Kieran); sisters: Joanne (Dick), Elizabeth (Peter), Cheryl (Paul) and families; brothers: Richard (Donna), Bill (Marisa), Jamie (Shawn), David and families; sister-in-law: Judy and family. He is predeceased by his parents Richard & Sophia Hollinshead; father and mother-in-law William & Eleanor Lawrence; brother-in-law, Jack Thomas.
