Obituary of William "John" Barrett

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William "John" Barrett on December 9, 2024, at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines. John was born in Parry Sound on July 22, 1943, and was predeceased by his mother, father, stepmother, and brother.

John leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Ivy Barrett, his two daughters Valerie (Dan) and Jessica, and his cherished granddaughters Abigail and Gracelynn. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who was deeply loved by all who knew him.

John moved to Niagara in 1970, where he worked for many years as a truck driver, first with Oakville Wood Specialties until 1981, and later with St. David's Hydroponics. He formed lasting friendships during his career, and his easygoing nature and work ethic left a positive impact on those around him.

In his free time, John enjoyed playing euchre and board games with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He was also a member of the Beamsville Legion for many years.

In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of John's life will be held next year. Details will be shared at a later time.

John will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
