Obituary of Johanna (Janny) Maria Haverkamp (Heus)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johanna (Janny) Haverkamp. Taken into the presence of her Lord in her 89 th year and reunited with her husband John (Jan) Haverkamp (1994) and son Steven Haverkamp (1981).
Left to mourn her loss are her children Ina Lakeit (Reinald), Stephanie Riley (Rick), John Haverkamp (Karen), Johanna Jakobs (Bert), Elizabeth Gianetto (Steve) and Judy Desjardins (Pete). Much loved Oma and grandma to 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. There will be many memories shared between her siblings Thea Bylhouwer, Ellie (William) Koop and Alida (Gary) Manuel.

Janny was the fifth child out of nine born to Steven & Elizabeth. She would fondly recall the adventures of growing up with her two brothers and six sisters in Holland. Janny immigrated with her family to Canada in 1950. She and Jan were married in 1952 and enjoyed many happy years together until his passing. Janny loved a good book and passed her love of reading on to many of her children. She also enjoyed camping and
travelling with Jan. Janny had many talents and was an exceptional seamstress. She worked at Gary Waters clothing store until her retirement and in her spare time used her skill designing and creating clothing for her family, herself and others. She was a very avid bowler and never missed a league game. She also loved to golf and enjoyed her hobbies well into her senior years. She loved flowers and plants and spent many hours
tending to her beautiful gardens.

At Janny’s wish, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services 905 (354-2133). A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, please consider making a donation on the family’s behalf to Hospice Niagara.
