Obituary of Joe Orosz

In Loving Memory of Joe Orosz

November 10, 1937 – April 25, 2022

After a courageous journey, Joe died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 62 years to Marlene (Jamieson). Loving father to Jolene & Mark Slack and Michael Orosz & Rev. Heather Weaver-Orosz. Cherished and devoted Grandpa to Eric Orosz (Ella Fitzhugh) and Abbey Orosz. Dear brother of Elizabeth (the late Joseph) Szuch and Betty (the late Wes) Stonos. Known as Uncle Yoush or Uncle Sonny, he will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Joe is predeceased by his parents James and Anna (Verba) Orosz; his siblings and their spouses: Andrew (Jean) Orosz, Vera (Janos) Hanok, Margaret (Bill) Agoston, Ann (Les) Toth, Irene (Doug) Beauchamp, Mary (Carl) Meyer, and sister-in-law Irene (Peter) Schneider.

Joe was born in Welland on November 10, 1937, the youngest of nine children. At the age of seventeen he began working at Canada Forge, where he spent twenty years specializing in machine repair and maintenance. Joe went on to become the Vice President of Niagara Fasteners, working with longtime friends Frank and Janet Zaniol. He was known for his dedication to his work and took great pride in his job. He was known and remembered even more so for his dedication to, and extraordinary love for, his family.

Joe was a quiet, humble man who was strong-minded and highly principled. He maintained a positive outlook in life, always finding the good in people. Joe enjoyed birding, golf, bowling, hunting and fishing. Many memories were made on his fishing trips to Buckhorn. Joe was known for his friendly nature, going out of his way to say good morning to every person with whom he crossed paths.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. Kim Scher and the nursing staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital, the home care nurses, Drs. Finley, Vandermeer, Tharmabala, Hussaini, and the entire team at the Walker Family Cancer Centre for their care and compassion. Also, heartfelt thanks for the many expressions of loving support from family and friends.

In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Delphi Banquet Centre, 4414 Portage Road, Niagara Falls, on Saturday, May 7th from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with a Memorial Service taking place at 1 p.m, The Rev.
