Obituary of Joan Roberts

Peacefully surrounded by her family, Joan passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Welland Hospital, at the age of 87. Joan has been reunited with her beloved husband John and her son Clayton. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Karl (Dawn) and Tracey (Chris) Berni. Sweet Nana of Ashley (Amanda), Jessica, Kadin (Megan) and Jordon. Dear sister of Christine (David), and sister-in-law of David (Maureen) and Teresa (Peter). Joan will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She enjoyed a lifetime of memories which included travelling around the world with John, to some of their favourite places like Hawaii, Florida and Hong Kong. The most cherished moments in life were spent with her family, going with them on many occasions to get french-fries, drinking the finest coffee and indulging in all types of cheese! She enjoyed sketching, spending time in her garden (which was an inherited hobby that she learned from her father William, while growing up in the United Kingdom), and simply being outside soaking up the sunshine and enjoying nature. Mom is now at rest and in her eternal paradise, on a warm sandy beach by the water. She will be dearly missed.

A special thank you to the friendly community at Villa De Rose Retirement Residence, for being kind and caring neighbours and for making Joan feel so welcomed and at home. In accordance with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 221 Division Street, Welland, on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 11am-1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Trees that Feed Initiative (Rotary Club St. Catharines South). Online condolences may be shared on Joan’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

Joan I will miss you so much, but I will always be pleased that I told you on numerous occasions how I admired your fortitude and courage.
Mum always said never hold back from telling people how much you admire them and this I have tried to do.
I can’t wish you back as your in a better place and what a celebration meeting up with Clayton, John and your handsome dad.
When John first brought you home and you met the family we all thought you were lovely. Your pretty elvin face and small waist perfectly suited the fashion of the fifties. How did you manage that with all those sweeties? I will never see a jelly baby or jelly bean without thinking of you.
I will treasure all your cards and our trips down memory Lane and to answer your last question to me, yes the bathroom is still full of sea shells.

Karl and Dawn.

Thinking of you as you miss your Mom.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Such a beautiful picture of your Mom. She had a contagious smile. She was a delight anytime I saw her. She always looked put together in stylish clothes. You both took such great care of her.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.

The past few years were such a challenge for you yet you still managed to smile every time I saw you. There are so many things I am going to miss on a daily basis, I can already feel the void that is now left behind. You will be missed by so many friends and family members including those at the Villa De Rose home that you spent the past months at. I am thankful for all the wonderful times we spent together and the great trips we all had with so many beautiful memories.
Thank you for all you did for us kids, your love and carrying towards everyone you knew will be greatly missed. I take comfort in knowing that you are now back in the company of Dad and Clayton and all the others who have gone before. You will always be loved and never forgotten.

Oh mom, my heart is broken. I’m sure Clayface pushed dad out of the way to welcome you😢. I’m grateful for the recent conversation about the beautiful Barbie doll clothes you hand made with such detail. I’m happy you knew how much I appreciated and loved you. 3pm won’t be the same. Miss you Momma.
