Obituary of William James "Jim" Stewart

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William James "Jim" Stewart on August 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Jim was predeceased by his beloved parents, William Andrew and Beatrice Stewart, as well as his mother-in-law, Regine Touchette.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol Green, and their children: Debby Stewart (Randy Minich), Kathy (Brien) Noble, Cindy (Stephen) McLatchie, and Kevin (Kelly) Green. He will be dearly missed by his cherished grandchildren: Mitchell, Thomas, Daniel, Melissa, Christopher, and Aiden. Jim is also mourned by his father-in-law, Marcel Touchette, and many beloved nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. He shared a special bond with his brother-in-law Danny, who will miss him deeply.

Jim began his professional journey in real estate but soon followed his true passion for carpentry and woodworking. His remarkable craftsmanship can be seen in homes throughout the region, a testament to his skill and dedication. Jim was always ready to lend a hand or share his knowledge and expertise. He had a knack for fixing things, and if he couldn't fix it, it wasn’t worth keeping.

Jim enjoyed attending wood shows and car shows. He treasured his 1972 Monte Carlo, a car his father bought brand new that Jim continued to love and care for.

Jim was well known for his calm demeanour, selflessness and wisdom. He could often be heard telling stories of how things used to be around Niagara Falls. He always enjoyed Saturday morning coffee in his shop with friends.

He and Carol loved dancing in the home they built together, creating a lifetime of beautiful memories.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 102A-4300 Drummond Rd., Niagara Falls.

The family would like to thank the ER and ICU care team at GNGH for their care and compassion.
‎
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity or organization of your choice in honor of Jim’s life and legacy.

Jim will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering love for his family.

Jim was a good friend of my late husband Ray and myself. They shared the love of cars. They told many stories with tears of laughter. Countless cups of “mud” (coffee).
I charish the fun times we all had together.
I will miss him greatly.
